The Kana,Kuta, Feb 2015

We stayed at The Kana in Kuta for 5 days. It was recommended by a friend. We checked on trip advisor for reviews. All positive and nothing negative.

We booked through Expedia and never regretted our decision. We took a taxi service at the counter at the Bali Airport. It cost about IDR 120,000 to the hotel.

The check-in made our day. We arrived around 12 pm and immediately told the front office if we could put our luggage and go out to have our lunch and to come back in time for check-in around 2 pm. But the lovely lady told us that she would try to check in for us. That really impressed us because we did not informed them of our arrival in the first place. While waiting, we were given cold drinks for refreshment and a small basket of fried samosa. The samosa was so delicious that I asked the staff if I could buy it. The hotel has a cafe next to their restaurant and they sell lots of other delicacies.. I bought more than 20 packets of various designs of samosa on my last day there.

When we arrived at our room, I asked the staff who helped us with our luggage if he knew how far Pondok Tempo Doeloe, a local restaurant from the hotel. He said he checked it out and would come back to me.

We booked a deluxe room without balcony. Quite spacious and very clean. I read reviews from Trip Advisor not to book a deluxe room with balcony as it would be noisy, as all balconies are facing the swimming pool. The bathroom was small but quite comfortable. No bathtub but very clean.

There was a knocked on the door and there was a lady hotel staff smiling, I remembered her as one of the front office staff. She gave me a copy of a printed copy of a map to the restaurant. Not only that, they advised us to take a taxi as the weather was just too hot. They called a metered taxi for us. The journey was about less than 5 mins and it cost about IDR 8,000. We gave the driver IDR 30,000. Because from our experience, it was very unlikely to get a sincere cab here especially in Kuta.

The breakfast was just too good too. From the lady who cooked eggs daily for my wife to perfection and to the service staff, just wonderful. Special mentioned to a service staff where I asked if I could have a latte in the room. He immediately say yes without hesitation. Wonderful guy, he served us for our 1st two days at breakfast. He make sure our latte and cappuccino was done to perfection. Not a good experience on our last day though. We did not see him but was served by another person when we ordered the same thing. My latte came out flat and I got a diarrhoea because of that. Other than that, everything was just perfect. We always came back to a cleaned and spotless room.

We might come back for a second time which will be a first for us. We never stay twice in the same place for the last few years we have been to Bali.
