Warung Bambuku

It is located near Jl. Kerobokan intersection in Seminyak.  They served great Indonesian food. Its like having home cooked food. We normally came before 12 pm and the cooks were still cooking. The best part they took their own time to do the cooking. The aroma smell of the fried chicken can make you faint.

The food is really delicious & there was always an excellent selection of dishes to choose from.  The warung is very quaint with its rainbow shutters & quirky antique furniture.

The only negative side was that it was served by the owner. She charged you according to "where you come from". Ours was priced much more higher compared to the other places that we ate. We have a feeling she overcharged us because we told her we were from Singapore.

Warung Bale Bali, Seminyak

Located in Jl. Kunti I, few steps away along the T-junction off Jl. Raya Seminyak.  They served Indo-Chinese food.  The restaurant setting is nice,& cosy with balinese atmostphere.  It is much nicer if you go there for dinner because of the ambiance.  It has two floors but it was never crowded & we ended up sitting on the lower floor.

The menu is reasonably priced.  We have tried most dishes in the menu & so far all came out great & delicious.  We were never disappointed.  It takes quite awhile for the food to be served so make sure to inform the staff to serve your juices last (if you are going to order one) as they have the habit of serving it to you first.

Buzz Cafe, Seminyak

Located at Jl. Raya Seminyak at T-Junction off Jl. Kunti I.  Very nice little cafe & my wife's favourite place to chill out everytime when I go for a massage around the area.  She is a coffee freak & said that this is one of the best she had in Seminyak.

I am not a coffee person so I ever ordered the Nasi Goring but it was to western to my taste.  There is a package price at IDR 40,000 you can have a coffee, latte or cappuccino with a piece of cake, pies or tarts of your own choice.  The desserts are really of high quality.  I think they have one of the best coffee & cakes in Seminyak too.

The staff are friendly and attentive.  As it is along the main road, it tend to be quite noisy but it is nice to sit and watch the world go by.  Wi-fi is great!

Bale Udang Mang Engking, Seminyak

Located at Jl. Nakula No. 88 Sunset Road.  It not the first Nakula Road, its the second after crossing Sunset road.

We went there for dinner.  Upon entering this restaurant, you will be in awed with the sheer size and openess surrounded by individual dining huts.  The setting was just amazing & the place itself was beautiful.  Just for that reason, its worth the visit.

Most of the eating area is on a platform on a pond.  It was really crowded.  Although our food came late, the staff were professional.

The food - okay, what can I say.  Overall, it was average.  It was so commercial although the price were reasonable.  Everything were bland.  It's great if you have big families with children as the children would be awed with the surroundings.

Bemo Corner, Kuta

It is located at the famous junction of Legian Street.  It is a small & cosy cafe to relax.  The staff are friendly & ensured that you have a good time everytime you're there.  Their conversation with you make you feel that you are a part of their family.  Its that cosy.

For one of our visits, we came nearing closing time.  I did not know they were closing until my wife showed the signage.  When we apologised to the staff, they were cool about it.  That night, I had coconut juice & my wife had cappuccino & apple pie crumble, I think.  The pie is more than enough for the two of us.

The free Wi-fi was great too!!

Pondok Tempo Doeloe

Pondok Tempo Doeloe is located along Jl.Sunset, quite nearby the Bali Mall Galleria.  It is an upmarket restaurant for locals. The setting is for big groups & families.  If you go there as a couple, you will be sitting in a big wooden table.

Good sundanese influence & its halal.  The menu are reasonably priced.  We had Fried Gurame, cost about IDR 75,000 but it was so huge & delicious!!  The Sambal Kangkong is to die for!!  I had their fried chicken breast.  It was so tasty, I had 4 pieces.

Warung Pak Hadi, Kuta

The warung is located along Jl. Patih Jelantik going towards Legian.  It is a Chinese Muslim eatery so its halal.  It looked small from the outside but its quite spacious & clean.  The menu is quite extensive & reasonably priced.  The staff knew us as a regular so normally whatever we ordered, it came out great.  The Gurame fish is as fresh as you can get.  They took it out from the water tank only if you ordered it..

That's our driver, Bagor.  He's a gem.  Bagor has his own set of dish he ordered.  Its on his side of the table.  Whatever you see in the photos were all mine :)

Ayam Bakar Wong Solo, Kuta

Located along Jl. Raya Kuta going towards Tuban area.  It is a two storey spacious building.  It has a very unique concept restaurant, really authentic with traditional Javanese theme.  The food is halal.  The menu is quite extensive.  They have a package for chicken, duck or fish.  It comes with rice, fried tempe & tofu, cucumber, aubergine with sambal to die for!!  There's also single menu for the vegetables, soups & drinks.

I always ordered my favourite ayam penyet & my wife will ordered her favourite bebek goring.  Their service is really professional.  One of our visits, I brought my wife with her sisters, no matter how big your order, the food will be served all at the same time unlike many places we've been.

Pelangi Bali

It is located at Jl. Dewi Sri going towards central.  It is a typical Chinese restaurant.  Interior was filled with Chinese-theme paintings & ornaments. The menu were priced quite on the high side.  While we were there, there's a lot of enquiries bookings for weddings.  From what we heard, it was quite pricey.

The reason I went there because I wanted to see the paintings.  There were all painted by my late brother, Anthony, who passed away in 2011.  He was an artist based in Bali.

My mother & the owner are friends.  We tried to look for the owner but was told by the staff that he was in Jakarta.  So I just ordered Nasi Goring & Avocado juice for myself &  my wife.  For he record, the Nasi Goring has a very authentic chinese taste.  For awhile, you forgot that you are in Bali.

Warung Ijo, Ubud

A very small eatery along Jl. Raya Ubud.  I always make it a point for stopover here whenever I am in Ubud.  It has been one of my favourite places. The place is cosy.  You will see a lot of foreigners but a special breed, those who have stayed here & able to converse the local language.

During lunch time, it offers a long arrays of buffet of local dishes.  You just pick what you want & they will issue you a ticket for the amount.  They have a long list of fruit juices too.  You can never get it anywhere at just IDR 10,000 per drink. We always have our favourite soursops or Mango here.  Its freshly squeeze from the fruit.  They have ala carte too but the portions are smaller than the buffet.

Three Monkeys Restaurant, Ubud

Located in Ubud, we had our one of our lunches here when we saw the Trip Advisor sign. The eatery has a wonderful ambiance overlooking a padi field. That's where it stop.

We were extremely disappointed with the service & food.  Looking at the menu, I believed the food were overpriced & I was right.  One of the dish my sister-in-law ordered was the oxtail soup.  The meat was hard and not edible & it does not have the flavour of the oxtail soup that we used to have in most eateries. Just bland.

When we told the waiter or head waiter, he was in denial & proudly showed us the Trip Advisor signage & said a lot of people have been coming here & no complain so far.   Another sore point was that it mentioned "free flow of water" but after being charged at IDR 10,000 per person.

After I paid our bill, I was not given a receipt. When we asked for it we were told by the lady in charge she had thrown it away. Very weird. DEFINITELY NO POINT RETURN.

Seniman Coffee Studio, Ubud

Located at Jl. Sriwedari, just one minute walk from the Jl. Raya Ubud.  We just loved the surrounding & concept.  It is a two storey cafe with plastic chairs which they converted into rocking chairs.  The upper floor is an open air for smoking area &  the lower floor is an aircon for non smokers.  It has a trendy vibe & the prices are reasonable.

You can tell that the staff treat making coffee seriously.  Beautiful presentation.  The negative I would say the desserts were limited & the space for sitting on the upper floor was just too small.  The coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, etc were all great.  Definitely a must visit place in Ubud.
